Cruel policies of Tony Abbott, Australia's prime minister to refugees and asylum seekers

I am tempted to write about the problems of refugees and asylum seekers crossing into Australia from countries such as Iran, Afghanistan or Iraq through Indonesia.

 I've written this problem before, but since I received photos of Tony Abbott with a native (aborigin) Australian, I am finally writing again about this complicated issue. The photo on the left was sent by my friend in the group the BlackBerry Messenger (BBM) last night.

Australian Prime Minister Tony Abbott vowed to implement a controversial plan to stop asylum seekers from reaching the nation's shores. ''The people who have come illegally to this country need to know that they are breaking our laws, that they are, if I may say so, taking advantage, unfair advantage of our decency as a people,'' Mr. Abbott said.

Tony Abbott’s plan to send back all asylum-seeker boats has drawn fire from Indonesia’s police as well as the UN High Commissioner for Refugees as dangerous and in breach of international law. Indonesia’s police questioned whether Mr Abbott’s policy of using the navy to turn back asylum seeker boats contravenes international law, amid widespread disquiet in the country about the opposition’s hardline position.

Admiral Chris Barrie (ret), who served as Chief of the Defence Force at the time of the Tampa crisis, said government policy could not override international law. Tony Abbott policy controversy has hurt Indonesia as a country visited by immigrants bound or displaced before crossing to Australia. State of the kangaroo is indeed the main goal of the asylum seekers from various countries such as Iraq, Afghanistan and other countries.

Australia now act more cruel to refugees and asylum seekers, and even drive them directly without the help given food, water, medicine or medical examination. 

Australia has violated international law on refugees and asylum seekers. Under Tony Abbott, Australia has become a country that violates human rights of refugees and asylum seekers 
without examination.

The new Australian Government has considered all refugees and asylum seekers as illegal immigrants. Are lawyers around Tony Abbott so stupid? They can not provide the appropriate legal solutions in order to distinguish the illegal immigrants who come to Australia because of economic problems or political reasons. Asylum seekers and refugees who enter a country usually for political reasons, because there is a war or human rights abuses in their home countries.

We still remember when the Vietnam war, Australia is proud to help the boat people from Vietnam and accept them as refugees. Now the citizens of Vietnamese origin has become an Australian citizen, and many successful and prosperous life. The present policy of Tony Abbot is not very elegant, and an act that violates human rights.

If you look at the photo of Tony Abbott with a satire about an Aboriginal, then Tony Abbott and other Australian residents should remember about the history of the coming of the British to Australia, and make Australia a new colony. History also notes how the Aboriginal people suffered and many were killed in the past. They also experienced political and economic discrimination.
